Memorial Day Weekend 2008: Success!

What a weekend! Besides a few smashed fingers and sore backs the building trip went off without a glitch. After two days of building we accomplished our goal. A 3500 square foot dormitory that will sleep 40 and an apartment to house full time missionaries (notice the sweet flat up top). This place is large and will sleep youth groups, church groups, small groups, and whoever else wants to bring a 'building team' into our little community outside of Tijuana, Mexico. There is a full dinning room and kitchen, four large dorms, and two large bathrooms. Not to mention it backs up to our church auditorium. Lot's of space to accomplish whatever it is that God has placed on your heart. The apartment has an incredible ocean view, a living room, kitchen, bathroom, wash room, and two bedrooms. The perfect place to house our full time missionaries who will travel the country raising awareness and funds for the children of Tijuana, Mexico.
What a fun weekend! You can have a smile on your face too! Simply contact us to schedule your weekend or week long trip to Siempre today!
In the face of poverty. A young girl watches the building go up next to the dirt floored shack she calls home.
At 'Siempre Para Los Ninos' children's home we house over 30 children of have been rescued from the streets of Tijuana. There are still millions of children who need our help! We were constantly reminded of that on the work site. Your group can build houses in the community or put on day camps for the children in of the town. One of my highlights during the weekend was the community fish fry. Where we invited everyone in from the town to celebrate with us over an amazing fish feast.
It takes a team. We had a large team over the weekend to accomplish our monster building project. No matter how small or large your group is there is a lot of work to be done in our small community outside Tijuana, in your community, and around the world. Take part in changing lives today!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today we said goodbye.

One of the amazing things about serving in a church community is getting to take part in that community. Over the years I have built so many solid relationships with members of the church. One of the beautiful things about the church is you get to welcome so many into this world and at the same time say good bye to so many who you served beside. Today we had a memorial service for Mary Sampson. She was obviously loved and loved so many herself. It was a blessing to see so many people stand and talk about Mary, her greatness, individuality, and strength. Today's service reminded me of all the great people I have been able to walk along side and share in life's journey with who have sense slipped away. A mentor and golf partner, a smiling face, a best friends dad, all people who I came to know in the church, in this community. As Mary Sampson said in her las moments, "Tell the church I love her."

Stephanie's Birthday Week

It tasted way better than it looked!

A day of rest.

Today I have done nothing at all. I was going to go surf, but decided I am not a fan of insane gas prices so instead I played Mario kart wii (gas is free in the game for now). This evening Stephanie and I are going to Disneyland. Steph's birthday is Friday but we will be on a brief missions trip over the weekend so we are celebrating throughout the week. Should be fun.

Angel's Won!

What a game! Vlad hit a home run to bring the angel's back early in the game! Then Franky finished it! Steph and I love going to games, grabbing a hot dog, and watching the Angel's win.

Four Years

This picture was taken four years ago (notice me on the right). It was at my first summer camp with the youth group. After being on staff at Central Community for four years and getting ready to take the youth group to our fifth summer camp. I realize now I am probably a little more experienced than I was in 2004. When I first started out as youth pastor I always had problems with students not taking me serious, and/or talking to me as if I were one of the guys. Now students always compare me to their parents and often ask me if I am over 30 years old. A lot happens in 4 years. Tons of fun stuff, a few hard times, but in all I have loved my time at Central Community and am really looking forward to this next year.

Mother's Day

We are ready! Today Ken and I wrapped flowers to hand out to moms tomorrow at church. Make sure to remember to honor your mother tomorrow!

Thats Zac.

Friends are always good to have. In my life I have had a few. Zac (as the stolen picture will show) is rather fun. Some people know Zac as a film maker, a classmate, or a strange guy who goes to the same Starbucks. I know Zac as a friend. Our day's off have been perfectly coordinated, on Monday and Friday we surf together. It's great fun. We both talk about stuff we do not know much about but wish we knew more. Normally we talk about camera's (Zac knows a lot about camera's, I don't), strange music, funny surfboard stuff, and/or school. It's a good time. Today we caught lots of waves, laughed some, and ate food. I hope that all of you are letting other people share in your life; friends. Thanks Zac.

John Denton
