Surfing

One of the key aspects of surfing is waves. Yesterday unfortunately there were no waves to be found. After checking online surfer reports, getting my board and wetsuit together, I was ready to go surf. I left at around 4:45am with great anticipation of a fun morning of surf. I was wrong. I walked up to the beautiful pacific ocean and it was flat. I have a little rule that I never break though. I get in the water no matter what when I go surfing. There is no walking out, until I get in the water a paddle around. In the summer it’s easy just to jump in the water and splash around; the water is 70 degrees and the air temperature is 80. In the winter it is a completely different story; the water temp is 57 degrees and the air is around 45 degrees, freezing cold. Regardless I got into the water and floated around for an hour; I actually scored a few waves, and had a good time. I find it amazing that in such a busy word I can spend time alone in solitude. Make sure to spend a few seconds alone today, you will accomplish more than you think.

Another Day

To often we let are days slide by without doing anything, we sit back and let time fly. Today I want to encourage you to do something special for someone. Maybe someone you love, maybe a person you don’t even really know, or that strange person in the cubicle across from you. That small thing that you do for someone today could make a lasting impact on his or her life forever. Nothing silly to blog about today, no key bible verse to focus on, just one key point. Do something nice for someone else today. Make a difference.

Golf

What a great day for Golf. Yesterday was beautiful. I was able to golf with a few friends and enjoy the cool weather. I broke out my pink Dockers Golf sweater (Not Pictured) and got to work. For some reason we played from the black tees at Hidden Valley and I shot a 100 plus round. Ouch. Either way it was an excellent way to spend my Monday.

We are blessed

I have a tendency to forget how blessed I am to get to enjoy God’s beautiful creation every day. It’s hard to enjoy His creation when I sit in traffic on my way to work, or as I work at my desk, I should still realize how amazing it is but sometimes I forget to thank God for creating such a great world for me. Yesterday morning I went surfing and was able to worship God to the fullest as I was soaking in my beautiful surroundings. This weekend you should go outside and enjoy everything that God has given you including this wonderful earth.

The Psalmist wrote, “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Accept,
John

My Favorite Color?

If you didn’t already guess my favorite color is blue… I wear black shirts a lot, but besides a few articles of clothing in different colors, I really enjoy the color blue.

After a few minutes of research on Wikipedia (online dictionary were everyone’s opinion counts; don’t post false info though, it’s illegal) I found out some startling information:

Different cultures have different terms for colors, and may also assign some color names to slightly different parts of the spectrum: for instance, the han character 青 (rendered as qīng in Mandarin and ao in Japanese) has a meaning that covers both blue and green; blue and green are traditionally considered shades of "青." In more contemporary terms, they are 藍 (lán, in Mandarin) and 綠 (lǜ, in Mandarin) respectively. Japanese also has two terms that refer specifically to the color green, 綠 (midori) and グリーン (guriin, from the English word). However, in Japan, although the traffic lights have the same colored lights that other countries have, the green light is called using the same word for blue, "aoi", because green is considered a shade of blue.

Wow that is interesting so I guess that my favorite color would be green then as well?

Curling and Ones Health

So I recently wrote a blog on food. Today I think I will go back to that thought but write about daily exercise. The International Health Committee just came out with a new study that said to maintain a healthy body a person needs to exercise everyday for 30 to 60 minutes. The American health committee says that exercising 3 to 5 days a week for a time of 15 to 30 minutes well keep a person healthy. Have you ever noticed when you travel to other countries the people look healthier? Maybe our standards are too low. The real question is though will 30 to 60 minutes of curling (see picture) really help a person maintain their health?

Super Bowl Party

What a great Super Bowl game. Go Colts! I enjoyed the game and all of the food. My opinion is that the commercials stunk though. Thats it. Have a great Monday!

Food

I normally take a don’t ask don’t tell approach to my food intake and calories. This semester I am in a fitness class, and today we went over fast food meal’s and the calories you intake when you consume one of these heart stoppers. The average fast food meal was around 1600 calories (cheeseburger, fries, and soda). This is a small fast food meal, not large sized, not the 4x4 from in and out. In and out and burger king both averaged around 1700 pounds a meal. Crazy these meals are also very high in sugar, which leads to more problems. Yesterday I had in and out for lunch, and enchiladas for dinner. Wow. I think I might stop eating fast food. Then again its so good.

Another Day

In John 1:12 it talks about believers being the children of God. It’s pretty cool to think that we are all God’s children in one big family.
