A Welcome Sign

While you were sleeping (or here in southern California; While you were sitting in traffic on the freeway) I was waiting for the sun to rise and my day to start. It was a cold morning but quickly warmed up with the sun rise.

oh yeah the surf was fun too.

Surfing.

So every blog I've read today has had a nice picture of the surf, I figured I would keep the ball rolling (I have only read 'surfy surfy' that might explain it). I spent my early morning enjoying nice waves and great weather. I hope your day off is going to be as refreshing as mine.

Maybe I should stick to fishing?

Pastor Ken has been cleaning out and archiving photos for the last few days. It's always fun and scary at the same time. You never know once he has them scanned where you will see them next. Ken has a great sense of humor.

Starbucks Gold?

The annual membership fee is $25 and it entitles you to -

10% off most purchases in participating U.S. Starbucks stores*
A free drink when you purchase your Starbucks Gold Card in a Starbucks store
The option to pay for purchases any way you like
A special Gold Card that identifies you as a member of this group
So if I pay $25 a year I get a cool Starbucks gold card and save 10% on all my drinks from Starbucks...? I'm there! Let's be realistic for one minute and do the savings math (let's crunch numbers and find out if this is legit). A venti iced mocha is equal to $3.85 x 365 days in a year is a total of $1405.25... (ouch). Now for the percentage of savings $1405.25 x $0.10 equals a savings of $140.53.

The verdict is in! If you drink an unsafe amount of Starbucks you will save money by becoming a gold member! Realistically you only have to spend $250 a year at Starbucks to begin reaping the benefits of your gold card.

Tea Party.

Successful fund raising requires dedicated leaders. Today a few women in the church held a tea party in the court yard. It looked pretty nice out there, plus they raised a bunch of money for Siempre our children's home in Tijuana, Mexico.

Digital Video Recorders (Your DVR Habbits?)

So today is my day off. I am catching up on recorded television shows and laying around. I noticed that while watching my previously recorded shows that I never fast forward commercials. I started thinking am I the only person who does this? Let me know if I am.

Kampala, Uganda.

Like every major city in the world Kampala, Uganda has a little bit of everything. I happened to get a few visits on my blog from residence of the city and sparked my curiosity. Maybe they visited my blog from the Kayesoft Cyber Cafe. Regardless it made me want to travel. Plus this band playing at a festival in Kampala is neat. So here is a special shout-out to my readers in Kampala.

"The Truth is I am Iron Man"

This week the movie 'Iron Man' released on DVD. Today I went to the store and purchased it. Naturally we all can guess what I did next. I watched it. After I watched 'Iron Man' I was reminded of two things. One, it is almost the perfect movie. Two, that Batman 'The Dark Knight' is a really bad movie. You might ask "Why was Iron Man so good?" or "how is it that Batman is so bad?" Lucky for you I have the answers.

We will start with the bad. Its not like a hate 'The Dark Knight' or that Batman series of films. I simply did not think it should have been the over hyped film of the year. Why? The movie was too long, they caught the bad guy too many times, and they did not leave anything for the viewer to discover. An example. You think that detective might be two face (because of the foreshadowing with us of the coin), then the building explodes they guy gets blowin to the ground and in the midst of the flames you see that he has been flipping a two sided coin! There is more one side of the coin is scared and one side is not! Yes we the people discovered the detective was two face on our own. Then they took 30 minutes out of my time to really prove to me that he was infact two face! I already found that out. I really thought the movie was over one hour before it actually ended (it was scarey dark too).

Now to the good movie. 'Iron Man' is awesome. A problem. A solution. A good guy. A bad guy. And a great ending. Here we go, the good guy destroys the bad guy and gets the girl. The end. Go rent it for yourself today! Let me know what you think...
