This week has been a blur!

Man! I can't believe it's Thursday already.

High points of my week:
-Caleb arrived home Tuesday!
-Summer camp meeting went great!
-My triathlon wetsuit came in the mail

My weekend looks like this:
-Open water swim Saturday (woops carwash)
-Bike ride Saturday
-Might surf tomorrow with Chris
-Ready for youth tonight and Sunday with Caleb back!

Sorry this week has been so slow on the blog front...

My name is John and I like to party...(Hot Rod; anybody?)

In case you have been on the moon I just wanted to let you know. Sunday Nights are for those who like to party (and by party I mean play whiffle ball, volley ball, other strange games, and eat to much ice cream) . I love this picture because some how I snapt it right after Aaron was belted in the face with the foot bag (plus the hats are classic). As I always like to point out, we should issue safety glasses to everyone that enters into the youth building. See you next Sunday night!

This book cover makes me laugh.

America's Got Talent: Extreme Dance FX

Awesome! Danielle, one of the girls in the youth group is on NBC's America's Got Talent. She is the one with the blond hair second to the left most of the time, on the left at the beginning of the clip. Her dance team 'Extreme Dance FX' is pretty awesome. Make sure to cast your vote for them when it comes time!

Yikes, August 9th! (My First Triathlon)

On August 9th, I will be competing in my first triathlon. It is a sprint distance race and should be fun. My main goal is to get comfortable with the triathlon thing and hopefully train for a few more this year. Either way the money is down on this one.

Monday Update

Because I care about my readers I wanted to give a little bit of a Monday Update.

First of all I took my Dad golfing. It was his fathers day gift. We had a blast! I shot a 92 and my dad shot a 109. After our round my dad looked at me and said, "never buy me another father's day present, let's make this our tradition." Then we had lunch and watched Tiger Woods US Open playoff at Torrey Pines. My morning with dad was great.

Second I went for a 45 minute bike ride trying to build my strength on the bike. My first triathlon is going to be on August 8th! I have been training for sometime.

Third, I jumped in the pool and cooled off. It's a hot day! Almost 100 degrees in Riverside, Ca today.

Now I am laying around waiting for the Angels game to start. In the mean time I am going to work on a website for my aunt and hopefully eat something!

The Giant Overpass!

Well. Today I was fortunate enough to drive on the giant over pass that connects 60 and the 91 freeway. I watched an episode of Modern Marvels on the overpass but had never driven it. Today I was able to take it all in.

Lazy Me (General Ministry Thoughts...)

My hair is long. My face is rugged. I haven't made a phone call in weeks. I am feeling a bit slow and down. I realize I have an entire summer of events that need to be organized; already scheduled but still a lot to do. I have been trying to get out new t-shirts for the last month. Haven't changed a thing within our youth ministry for months (I am normally full of new ideas). To top it all I have been just slow around the office and my desk is a mess! Besides responding to emails my communication to the outside world has been cut down a ton. I am not sure what it is. I recognize the approach, it is the same one I took during college. Go for the 'C' and everything will be fine. Thats not what I want for our ministry and even greater it is not what God wants for our ministry. How can I be more effective? I ask my self. The funny thing is I already know the answer. Put in the time. Do the work God has called you to do. If someone in a business setting did not do their job the entire business would crumble around them, but for some reason I have told my self that the church will be fine and the job will still get done. It won't! I have become to comfortable with the numbers we have been putting up at our gatherings. I am fine with just knowing students names and nothing else about their lives. Should I stop at 50 students and cut off numerical growth? Should I end relationships at a name? No way. I know I must keep going on. I should not rest until I have changed the world. It is easy to see change in one person and feel like the job is done, but there are still millions out there who need Christ. There are still thousands of youth in my own community who don't have a relationship with Christ. Is the job ever done?

Accept,
John Denton

So many choices...

Today I am working on finishing up my teeshirt art. I have a lot of very similar designs just different sizes. Now it is time to choose one and get screens.

New Youth Tees

Graduation Day!

Yesterday Stephanie, Caleb, Jackie, and I all went over to Amanda's house to celebrate her high school graduation. I don't know if she was more excited about graduation or starting College at BIOLA in a few months. Along with Amanda, four other students from Accept graduated high school, Chris, Dan, Jazzmine, and Mikey. Great job you guys! Come out this Friday for our Grad Night Party... 9pm-11pm in the Chapel.

Church Picnic

The always great church picnic holds true to it's greatness. Water balloon toss, three legged race, and tug of war mixed with hundreds from the church and excellent food is the perfect concoction for an amazing day of picnicking. I mostly rallied up youth for whiffle ball games and relaxed with Steph (as seen catching a balloon). Thank you to everyone who helped make the church picnic a success.

Rex Hudler showed me this one...

I am just going to get this out there. Rex Hudler is one crazy baseball announcer. During todays game he randomly threw out a plug for Rod Allen's video on you tube. Note: Rex was talking about this while Mark Gubicza was trying to promote family night at the big 'a'. Thanks Rex! Thats a great you tube video regardless.

My Grandmother.

A nice family portrait and a sweet way to remember my grandmother. My grandmother past away early this morning, and will always be remembered as a loving mother and a powerful woman in my life.
